Shamanic Energy Medicine
What Can Happen in a Session
The work begins with what is actually present.
When people first come across shamanic energy medicine, it can be tempting to think of it as a collection of separate techniques - soul retrieval, extraction, cord cutting, destiny retrieval, energetic protection, divination, and so on. These are genuine forms of traditional practice, but a session is rarely a matter of choosing a technique from a menu.
People come because they feel stuck, emotionally burdened, disconnected from themselves, caught in repeating patterns, or aware that something deeper is asking to be addressed. Sometimes the issue is obvious. Sometimes it only becomes clear once we begin to look beneath the surface.
One Deeper Process
Different doorways into the same deeper process.
The forms of practice described here are not separate boxes. They are different expressions of the same underlying intention: restoring harmony, releasing what is no longer needed, and reconnecting a person with their own vitality, clarity, and direction.
The form of work offered within a session emerges through conversation, intuitive perception, and energetic assessment. Rather than applying a predetermined method, the work follows what is genuinely present.
Traditional Forms of Practice
Each of the approaches below belongs to the broader tradition of shamanic energy medicine. They are not offered as isolated treatments, but as different ways of meeting the deeper patterns that shape human experience. Open any to read more.
Extraction is a traditional shamanic practice concerned with releasing what the system has been unable to process or integrate.
This may be experienced as emotional heaviness, persistent stress, old grief, fear, or a sense that something remains lodged despite genuine attempts to move forward.
Rather than viewing these experiences as something “bad” or something to be feared, this work understands them as patterns that have become fixed within the body, psyche, or energetic system.
Extraction is not about removing part of the person. It is about helping release what no longer belongs, allowing the system to recover its own capacity for balance.
For many people, this brings a greater sense of spaciousness, clarity, and ease - as though something that has been carried for a long time has finally been set down.
Soul retrieval is one of the best-known forms of shamanic healing.
Across many traditions, trauma, grief, betrayal, prolonged stress, or significant life events are understood as experiences that can alter our relationship with ourselves. We may continue functioning, yet feel that something essential has become distant or unavailable.
This does not need to be understood literally in order to be meaningful. Psychologically, it can be understood as reconnecting with parts of ourselves that became hidden, frozen, or left behind in order to survive. Spiritually, it may be experienced as the return of lost vitality or essence.
Rather than forcing a return to the past, soul retrieval creates the conditions for a renewed relationship with qualities such as vitality, creativity, joy, confidence, courage, and agency.
In a grounded therapeutic sense, it is a movement towards becoming more fully ourselves.
Cord cutting is concerned with releasing unhealthy energetic attachments while honouring the relationships from which they arose.
We naturally form bonds through love, family, intimacy, loyalty, responsibility, conflict, and shared experience. Most of these are healthy. Sometimes, however, a relationship continues to hold us long after it has ceased to support growth.
Cord cutting is not about rejecting another person or denying what the relationship meant. It is about releasing the emotional or energetic charge that keeps old patterns alive.
At its best, this work supports clearer boundaries, greater freedom, and the ability to remain connected without remaining entangled.
Where soul retrieval restores relationship with what has been lost, destiny retrieval looks towards what is waiting to emerge.
Periods of transition often leave people uncertain of direction or disconnected from possibility. Something old has ended, but the next chapter has not yet fully revealed itself.
Destiny retrieval is not about predicting the future. It is about restoring relationship with purpose, movement, and the life that is asking to be lived.
It can be especially meaningful during major life transitions, career changes, endings, or periods of profound personal transformation.
The Bands of Power are a traditional practice of energetic strengthening and protection.
Healthy protection is not the same as becoming closed or defended. Rather, it is the capacity to remain open without becoming overwhelmed.
This work can be particularly valuable for people who are highly sensitive to the emotions or environments around them, or whose work regularly involves holding space for others.
Psychologically, it reflects the development of stronger boundaries, greater self-possession, and emotional resilience.
Divination is often misunderstood as fortune telling. Traditionally, it is better understood as a practice of listening.
Through image, symbol, intuition, and reflection, it can reveal patterns, possibilities, hidden dynamics, and questions that may not yet be fully conscious.
Rather than replacing personal choice, good divination expands it. It invites a wider perspective from which clearer decisions can emerge.
Within this work, divination is not separate from healing. It is another way of listening to what is asking to be seen.
Shamanic hypnotherapy offers a journey through the mind into the archetypal layers of the soul. Within a gentle trance state, symbols and images become a living language that invites direct encounter. The mind becomes a doorway, not a barrier. In that encounter, something essential is remembered and carried back into life.
Healing continues long after the session ends, carefully chosen earth-based rituals, reflective practices and other supportive approaches help you integrate your experience into daily life. Where appropriate, I may also guide you towards trusted practitioners whose particular expertise can support your healing alongside this work.
How the Work Unfolds
The aim is to meet the pattern beneath the surface.
The most appropriate form of practice is rarely obvious at the beginning. Someone may arrive asking for cord cutting when the deeper issue is soul retrieval. Another may feel they need direction, only to discover that clearing and integration are what is required first.
Through conversation, intuitive perception, and energetic assessment, we begin to identify what is most needed. The work unfolds from there - not to apply a technique, but to meet what is actually present.
The Deeper Purpose
Restoring right relationship.
At its heart, shamanic energy medicine is about restoring right relationship - with the body, with emotion, with the past, with other people, and with the larger web of life.
It does not replace ordinary life. It helps us return to it with greater presence, clarity, resilience, and freedom.
The individual practices described above are simply different expressions of that deeper intention. Whether the work involves clearing, retrieval, protection, symbolic exploration, or integration, the aim remains the same: to support a more whole and authentic way of being.
